Jato Akuraa, a small community in Kintampo North, with a population of about 400 people is a beneficiary of our borehole project. A hand pump borehole was constructed for the community in the year 2008. The aim of this borehole project is to deter the community members from fetching water from the streams, wells and harvested rainwater tanks, whiles providing them with a safe and reliable source of good and clean water.
The borehole is located in the western side of the community in a waterlogged area. This brings the total number of boreholes in the community to two. For most parts of the year, this borehole has been the only functional borehole in the community as the other has broken down due to poor maintenance and misuse. The facility also serves as a supplementary source of water during the dry seasons.
